I am excited to find another first grade blog tonight.  What Happens in First Grade is having a great giveaway to celebrate 100 followers.  Please go and visit Amy and her wonderful blog.

Welcome to Mrs. Hedrich's Hive!!

It has certainly been an interesting start to my school year.  In school for 2 days and out for 8 days because of mold.  I had to set up my classroom twice this year, once before the mold and again after the cleaning.  Crazy!!

Everything is back in order and I had a great first full week with my kids.  I really love my class this year!  I only have 18 students which is really small for us.  We had some children move out of our district this year and they were all on  my list.  My team members all have twenty some students in their classrooms so if any new first graders move in our district this year they will definitely join our class.

Now that life has returned to a normal routine I hope to finally get sometime this weekend to start posting pictures of my classroom!  I am still so excited that I finally have a blog and I'm looking forward to sharing :)

I just watched the CNN interview with Paul Edelman & Deanna Jump from TPT.  I am a big fan of her work and was so excited to hear she reached a million dollars.  Way to go Deanna!!  You have inspired me and many others to follow in your foot steps.  I hope you make another million soon :)

Back to School Tomorrow

Well we did not get an answer until 4:00 today but we are finally going Back to School tomorrow.  They allowed us into the building for 2 hours to check our rooms and all I can say is....I don't know what to say except for so much for two weeks of setting up my room.  Everything was moved and out of place.  I am happy to say that I did get to put the furniture back in place and straighten up enough for the kids arrival in the morning.

I am not going to let the mess bother me though.  I am so excited to meet my new kids and even more excited for my daughters first day of Kindergarten tomorrow!!!  Any teacher will tell you that we always make it work and it is going to be a GREAT first day :)

Hi Everyone!  Well tonight our Superintendent is supposed to announce an opening date for school.  They are now saying it will be earlier than September 24th.  Keep your fingers crossed for us :)

I wanted to share a great video I found from a teacher named Taylor Mali.  We all make a difference everyday!!!

I hope everyone has a great week at school!  I'm looking at the positive that I get to spend two more weeks with my daughter before we start school.  Headed to the playground to meet friends this morning :)

I am so sad to share that the school Superintendent just called and told us that our school has been shut down for 2 weeks.  We are not starting school this year until September 24th.  The mold problem was apparently worse than they originally thought.  This stinks!!  I'm ready to get back to work :(

I just watched the cutest videos from Have Fun Teaching over at Finally in First.  Thank you to Jenn for sharing these.  My daughter and I just spent the last 30 minutes watching a bunch of them.  I can't wait to use them with my new class!!  We really loved Counting by 5's and Counting Down From 20.  Be sure to check them out.  They have videos for the alphabet, numbers, grammar, sight words and more.  I can't wait to check out some more later :)

Well today was supposed to be our first day of school and we are sitting home.  Unfortunately we are closed for the next few days because of mold.  I found out today there are schools all around us having the same problem.  They say it's because of all the rain and very high humidity we have had recently.  We have our fingers crossed for Monday!

I am so disappointed that I didn't get to meet my new class today.  I am even more disappointed because my daughter was going to start Kindergarten today.  She was sad until she heard Mommy was staying home with her :)
